Domestic Violence Offences

These offences include assault and the range of crimes against the person – including even murder.

There are also offences related to the breaching of Personal Protection Orders or Domestic Violence Orders. The courts take these matters extremely seriously and in the ACT there is a designated Family Violence List.

Changes to legislation mean that it is harder to get bail if you are charged with breaching a Personal Protection Order or Domestic Violence Order (see FAQ about bail).
